With the ageing process we develop fine lines and wrinkles. This is partly due to a natural loss of Hyaluronic Acid over time. This substance is found naturally within the body and is involved in maintaining skin rejuvenation, moisture retention along with production of collagen and elastin which provide the skin with a youthful appearance. Skin booster injections such as Profhilo aim to enhance the hydration and natural elasticity of the skin by replenishing Hyaluronic Acid within it as well as stimulating production of collagen and elastin which are key components in maintaining healthy, youthful looking skin.

The substance is non cross linked Hyaluronic Acid which is purified for safety and efficacy. Hyaluronic Acid is fantastic at retaining moisture and therefore volume, with it being able to hold up to 1000x its own weight in water. Dermal fillers also contain Hyaluronic Acid however the Hyaluronic Acid used in those is cross linked meaning it has a more rigid structure and is used more for creating structure and shape, whereas skin booster injections are more fluid and will focus on penetration into the skin to enhance collagen and elastin production as well as moisture retention. This leads to rejuvenated skin with reduced wrinkles alongside a lifted appearance.

The procedure typically lasts around 15 minutes and involves injections containing the skin booster delivered with expertise by Dr Shakeel into targeted areas using a needle following application of numbing cream if requested. It is not typically thought to be painful but some individuals do report discomfort which tends to be mild and short lived.

You can expect full results of this treatment to show within 4 weeks, although it is advisable to have a second procedure done within 1-2 months for optimal results. Results will usually persist for up to 6 months and often longer but this can vary depending on the individual.

Avoid touching or rubbing treated areas for 12 hours, avoid makeup for 12 hours, avoid strenuous activity for 48 hours, avoid direct sunlight exposure or heat (hot showers, saunas, steam rooms) for 72 hours.

Immediately after the procedure there may be some itchiness, redness, discomfort, or swelling in the treated area which can persist for up to 72 hours.

Face- Skin booster injections are an excellent choice for finer wrinkles and lines arising on the face as well as for some mild sagging areas

Neck- As for the face, these injections are also a great choice for loose/sagging skin with wrinkles on the neck area

Decolletage- The decolletage area (neckline down to top of chest area) can also be treated to rejuvenate the skins appearance by replenishing it with Hyaluronic Acid

Hands- The hands are often neglected and will show their age with time if not looked after. Skin booster injections are an excellent option for those looking for replenishment of this area
